Membrane Keypad Technology

Membrane Keypads can comprise of simply printed fascia's or complete switch assemblies incorporating embedded components. They offer a high level of customisation to meet designer's ergonomic and aesthetic criteria as well as satisfying more obvious parameters such as robustness, High level of Chemical Resistance, Ingress Protection, Operational life and have the advantage of a low cost and rapid turn-around.

Construction & Features

A membrane assembly is typically constructed from Polyester films on which coloured and conductive inks are printed to create a graphical and switch Solutions. The switch typically operates when electrical contact is made by pressing the finger onto the contact area and broken when the finger is released, this can be tactile or non-tactile and more recently this can be replaced with areas for Capacitive sensing technology.

Enhancements such as Key area Embossing, Selective Surface Texturing, Backlighting, Insert Legends, Digital Printing, FPC /PCB, LED's, Metal Click domes all combine to offer a custom solution to meet customers exacting requirements
