Elastomeric keypads are compression moulded using silicone rubber. A specific tactile response is created using an angled web around the base of each key. Switch response and travel can be selected using our free Elastomeric Keypad Design tool.
The 3D form created by the compression moulding process gives greater integration possibilities for the keypad into the products overall design. The properties of the moulded, silicone base material give keypads exceptional longevity which can be improved further with the addition of epoxy keytops and protective spray coatings.
Keypad colour can be created using pigmentation of the silicone or spray paint which allows custom backlighting options to further improves visual and functional capabilities of the keypad design. With competitive tooling and low unit costs, Elastomeric Keypads are cost-effective interface panel in medium to higher volume electronic product applications.
